Introduction

The program goal is to demonstrate a scale model of the solar system anywhere on Earth using Google Maps. To enter the program shows us a window as the figure being proposed on a scale in which the distance from the Sun to the Earth is 1000 m.

At the top there are buttons to switch language (available in Catalan, Spanish and English).

Then we have to change the form of scale. By default the program assumes that the distance from the Earth to the Sun in the model is 1000 m. Press the send button we show a model of the solar system to scale selected as shown in Fig.

In the list of planets Pluto was included even though it is not currently considered a planet for inclusion in the model and get an idea of its size and distance to orbit.

By default the center of the model is Vilafranca. On the right side of the window to have a menu button for Scales, Table View and Change the origin of the map as shown in the figure:

For the model can be represented in a scale was consistent with the size of the Earth and the resolving power of Google Maps. So just the stars who are drawn away from the Sun in the model is 10 m lower than 3000 km.

See the demo

We can see the model when the program began, from the forms to change the scale or the origin of the map or click on the Send button when viewing from the Data Table Map pressed the button. In any case we find a window similar to the figure:

Normally all the planets are not visible clearly in the window, in fact it is impossible to show all the planets clearly in a window. When we separated the first four planets (Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars) have not seen the other as shown in the figure above. If we change the scale of the map to view all planets then the first planets are piled as shown in the figure:

On the left we have the map zoom control allows you to enlarge or reduce the scale. Can drag the map to change the center or use the controls on the top left.

Show table

If we're seeing the demo  and press the Show table button will be displayed as a window of figure:

Where can we see the actual data of the solar system and the data in the model. The mass in the model was calculated assuming the same density as the real star.

Rescale

If we see the model or table level have the Rescale button on the left side of the window. If we press a menu like the figure on the right side of the window:

We have a combo box where we choose what we want to sign the star sizes scale.

We also have two radio buttons where if we want to select the distance from the star to the Sun or the diameter of the star.

Finally we have the box that you have to type the distance in meters. The decimal point is the point, not a comma.

By clicking the Submit button to view the scale model selected.

Change the origin of the map

While watching the demo table or have the button to change the origin of the map. This button shows a window like the figure:

In the meadow right corner we have a map where you can select the position of the sun on the demo by clicking with the mouse. In doing so the coordinates are selected on the form.

We can also type in the coordinates of the new point directly on the form. The decimal point is the point, not a comma.
By clicking the Send button to display the model in the new sun rise.
